SDSU Content Management System Redesign.

PROJECT DETAILS

CLIENT: SDSU

ROLE: PROJECT MANAGEMENT, WEBSITE DESIGN, UX/UI DESIGN, WIREFRAMING, MOOD BOARDS, USER PERSONAS, USER SURVEYS

Looking to redesign the SDSU content management system, SDSU contracted Boston based iFactory to redesign the SDSU template. I was designated as the SDSU project lead and worked closely with the iFactory team throughout the entire process.

At several key points of the process, the SDSU team was involved in all UX development stages. Working with the iFactory team, we conducted in-depth interviews with prospective students and first year students to uncover pain points about the current site and experience. We then worked to create user personas that represented our top four user types. From there, user journey flows were developed, mood boards were created, information architecture suggestions were made and then wireframes and prototypes.

The resulting experience of the new design was a strong "student-focused" engagement solution. CTAs are clearly defined. Content was light and specific so the pathways were easy to find and users could quickly get to the information.

As an internal exercise, I was asked to produce a visual design that was more closely aligned with the current SDSU branding (red, black and gold) to try and provide alternative design solutions. Some of the visual queues were woven into the iFactory design.
